This Substack is my discourse on womanhood.

My hope is to help minimize the stigma around the tough topics and bring some levity to the absurd bullshit that affects women in their daily lives. Conversation and humor. This is the way. It has always helped me endure just about anything.

This Substack is my case for matriarchy.

If women live long past their reproductive years and live longer than men, isn’t evolution showing us the obvious?

Women are life creators and caregivers, multitaskers and complex problem solvers, educated in the school of hard knocks and the institutions of higher learning, full of life wisdom and decidedly developed emotional IQs, who are ready and willing to lead. Not because all men are bad or we don’t need them. On the contrary, we need good men. But men have held the reins of power since the beginning of all civilization(s) and we’re still living with the same shitty problems and devastating conflicts, thousands of years in. History sighs and repeats itself.

I don’t know about you, but I’m over it. We need adult human females to speak up. So I’m platforming myself and adding my voice to the matrix.

Come on, ladies and gentlemen, let’s fire up the era of women - The Gynocene Epoch.

Who am I?

Lia Gary is a storyteller whose debut book, "Orca," is a fiercely honest memoir-in-essays exploring womanhood in all its complexity, hilarity, and righteous fury.

Lia resides in sunny Southern California with her husband, her 88-year-old mother, and a rather opinionated flock of hummingbirds.
